A red caboose lies in repose at the bottom of a stone quarry on Washington Island. For all of that island’s rich history—it has never had a train. Anyone who happens upon this novelty and possesses a modicum of curiosity must ask: how in the world did this thing land here, of all places? There must be a story behind it, you say?
