To all my Chicago family, friends and followers in the Irish community and beyond: My dear friend Donal Donohue, owner of The Mystic Rogue one of Chicago's best Irish Restaurants and Pub, has invited me down after Mass for a "Meet the Author Event" on Sunday, October 6.
We'll be on da "nort'wes side" in Norrige Park and there will be traditional Irish music sessiun going on in the main bar. We will have the side chapel (the wee bar) all to ourselves! Come join us for a pint, a tale or two, and your personalized copy of Behind The Door: Profiles of a Peninsula.

Book Signing in beautiful Cedarburg
I will be stopping in downtown Cedarburg, WI at the Irish Boutique (on my way to Chicagoland) on the afternoon of October 26th 2024 from 2:00 PM - 4:00 PM to visit with Paul Barry and staff and for a book signing, readings, and to talk about Door County over a strong cuppa tea! Cedarburg is beautiful and quaint in all seasons, but particularly in the Fall!

Book Signing at Paddy's On The Square
To my Chicago area friends and followers: I will be making a special trip down to the northern suburbs to visit with my dear old friend Paddy Barry at the world famous Paddy’s On The Square Irish Boutique in Long Grove, Illinois on Sunday, October 27, 2024 for a book signing, some conversation and reading from my new book!
I have known Paddy since the mid-1970’s when he first opened his famous store. A true gentleman and an Irish scholar, Paddy has always been a strong supporter and promoter of my work. His son, John, who was just a toddler when I first met him, (sorry, John) has taken up the mantle and seamlessly runs the day-to-day operation now.
Long Grove is beautiful any time of year but fall has always been my favorite time to visit and I am honored at the invitation! I hope to see you there!
Breakfast Book Signing at The Belgian Delight Restaurant
At the invitation of owners Rose Mae Vandertie and her son Dean Vandertie, I will be at their Belgian Delight Restaurant for a book signing on Sunday, September 1st 2024 from 9:30 AM to 11:30 AM.
I wrote about Rose Mae and the restaurant and the integral part it palys in the local Belgian community in Chapter 6: The Traditions We Value.
The Belgian Delight is an “old world Door County” country restaurant and the epicenter for local news, scuttlebutt, and gossip in Southern Door. Their Sunday “after church breakfasts” are a feast, a great value, and very popular, so come early!

Since Southern Door and Clay Banks play a featured role in my new book Behind The Door: Profiles of a Peninsula, I am delighted to announce that I will have a book launch event at our town hall and have sent post card invitations this week to every single resident in our quiet little town of Clay Banks . But in case you missed it, I am following up to personally invite you to join me and Colleen for an afternoon reception and presentation celebrating the official launch of my recently published hardcover book of photographs and original essays. The afternoon event includes a short presentation, a display of photographs, reading of excerpts from the book’s essays in which , Q&A, and sale of autographed editions of the book. Families welcome. Light refreshments will be served. We hope to see you there!

Write On, Door County Book & Author Fair
This annual event is the largest and most attended book fair on the peninsula. I will be on hand at Martin Park along with nearly 40 other authors of the Door County Published Authors Collective to talk about, sell, and sign Presentation Editions and Standard Editions of my book Behind The Door: Portraits of a Peninsula. This event runs concurrent to Sturgeon Bay’s Saturday Farmer’s Market. Martin Park is located near the entrance at the east end of the market along 3rd Avenue. Come out and enjoy the revelry!
