The ore carrier Edwin H. Gott glides into the Sturgeon Bay Ship Canal on a milky New Year’s Day morning in 2023. She is the most powerful vessel on the Great Lakes capable of hauling over 74,000 tonnes of iron ore. To give the observer a sense of relatability; if you were to peel back the deck of the 1004’ long Gott like a sardine can, the HMS Titanic would fit inside the laker’s hull with more than 120 feet to spare.
