"Disappearing Door"

from $40.00

Cloaked beneath a natural arbor; this dark, serpentine corridor performs a delicate dance along the ridges and swales on the shores of Lake Michigan in southern Door County. It doesn’t appear to lead anywhere special. But its location and topography are precisely why it has been spared the hand of man. Even without knowing its hallowed history, walking its mile alerts one’s senses to its significance. Its primitiveness is palpable and immediate and so unlike the less remarkable gravel lanes found atop the escarpment.
