"Icebound"

from $65.00

When the 1004-footer American Spirit entered the Sturgeon Bay Ship Canal during the afternoon the winds suddenly shifted to the southeast choking the bay of Sturgeon Bay with pack ice. The temperature dropped and a snow squall ensued, locking her in ice before crews could put her to bed at Bay Ship. She remained unable to move out there for a couple of days before the Coast Guard cutter Mobile Bay along with tugs from the Sarter fleet could free her. Things can change quickly on these waters. You can follow along on that adventure on my YouTube channel. It was a busy day for winter lay-up which also included highlights and photos of the arrival of the John G. Munson and Herbert C. Jackson here: https://youtu.be/mPst5563KZg
