"Lucky Strike"

from $40.00

A summer thunderstorm barreled towards me from across Lake Michigan, turning the afternoon into night at the breakwater entrance to the Grand River in Grand Haven, Michigan. This triggered the lights along the catwalk to automatically turn on. I was fortunate to catch three simultaneous lightning strikes in one frame with a 3/4 second shutter speed. More remarkable still is that the flashing lights atop the distant lighthouse and those of the breakwater piers — all of which flash at different intervals — were synchronized at that exact moment the lightning struck and my shutter was open.
